Measuring the Miraculous 1: The Miracles Database

Measuring the Miraculous- The Miracle Database

Given the importance of miracles in Medieval religious life it is somewhat surprising that there has been little attempt to understand miracles across the period as a whole. This database is an attempt to rectify that. The database comprises a collection of miracles from a variety of texts, throughout the period. It is broken down into various categories such as miracle type, gender and geography by which the database can be searched. This allows you to collect data on whatever subject you are investigating and to represent it however you choose! The image at the side of this page is a depiction of a miracle, Christ's raising of Lazarus.
